I have a shopify store and I can export my orders from Shopify into a spreadsheet. How do I get those orders into Wave?

Hi! This might require a little bit of reformatting but you can import transactions from a spreadsheet (CSV). Formatting guidelines are here. Importing CSVs from PayPal works similarly - you just need to remove columns containing information that Wave isn't able to read.

    Good morning,
I have an online store with Shopify and would like to know if Wave integrates with Shopify for sales? Or do I have to manually input every invoice/sale that goes through on Shopify into Wave? Thank you for your help!

    Hi, @onyva_.

No, we don't integrate with Shopify. Both Shopify and Wave share a few different features and an integration with one of our competitors is very unlikely.

You can, however, export your Shopify transactions as a CSV file, which you can then modify to comply with our bank statement upload functionality.

Here's how to upload a CSV statement to Wave.

Also, here's a bit of information regarding formatting. The most important part to remember is that Wave can only read statements with 3 columns (Description, Amount and Date).

Let me know if you need any help with that!

Hey Alexia, what's the best way to integrate my shopify payouts including the bank fees that they charge? Thanks

Hello - has anyone integrated Shopify into their Wave yet ? Looking for feedback/pro's/con's. I already have Paypal integrated so would potentially remove paypal and add Shopify.

It would be great if integration wasn't very unlikely. Even though there are a few shared features, the ability to effortlessly link one's store to their bookkeeping mechanism would make Wave exponentially more popular among small business owners. I hope this will be considered moving forward, and someone at Wave can continue to bring the topic to meetings. Speaking with other creatives, this is the one huge drawback that keeps them from opening Wave accounts.

    Hi @Stormy,
Wave is on a journey to make more of its functionality available via APIs, so in due course you may see a specialist Shopify add-on builder creating a mechanism to push data into Wave.
In the meantime, Zapier offers the ability to create a Sales Transaction in Wave when you make a sale in Shopify.
This pre-built "Zap" is configured to do exactly this.
    Hope that helps!

    @PaulC

Shopify integration is a must. Zapier only brings in NEW transactions and I see no way to import transactions from the beginning of the year. Are we expected to set up a zap for each and every day of the year to import previous transactions? I see no way to get these transactions into my Wave account. Please advise.

    Hey there @tslife

You should be able to export a CSV file from your Shopify account by following the steps in This Article. Once you have those you can upload your transactions into our transactions page to your Shopify account by using our CSV Uploader tool!

Reach out if you're still having troubles with this

I am trying to get Zapier to create a Wave INVOICE when I make a Shopify sale, rather than just an entry in my bookkeeping. Any ideas for how to do this? I've tried creating the Zap but I am running into a problem with Zapier taking the items from Shopify and IDing them on Wave. It just can't find the item and gives me the error message:

    Got 500 calling POST https://api.waveapps.com/businesses/96a65730-f6c5-4443-9f13-b7c02cfb9cf6/invoices/, expected 2xx.

I think maybe it is because the Item ID numbers in Shopify and Wave aren't the same but I have no idea how to reconcile that.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

Hi Jonathan @springforthfarmnc! It is great you are getting in there and setting up 'zaps'. For help on these more technical issues we recommend reaching out to Zapiers support team here: https://zapier.com/app/contact-us they should be able to provide some technical advice on this!

Is this app finctional? IT sounds great and I'd change my store to shopify if it really works, but there are no reviews and it looks like it may be a dummy app. Has anyone used it? Thanks.

Hey @DanButters! Great question! While we can't exactly speak to the functionality of this particular Shopify app, it may be beneficial to reach out to Shopify support in order to triple check the legitimacy of this developer! From what I can see, that should function well, though!

Did you ever find a solution on this? I will likely be attempting to do a similar setup between Shopify and Wave with Zapier.

I had to manually create a lookup table one item at a time. It wasn't worth it and I stopped using it. It was too easy to make a mistake and too difficult to find it.

    Hey there @Barhead

If you head to the bottom left of your account and select Integrations > Here you should find the Shopify Zapier integration to import your transactions into Wave. Hope this helps!

I am moving my shop from Wix over to Shopify and have had Zaps set up but they do not always work. Has there been any news on a Shopify integration?

  • AlexLAlexL Member Posts: 2,869 ✭✭✭

Hey @abaker , there's no Shopify integration at the moment and we don't have any plans for one in the near future.

Just posting here if it's helpful to anyone looking for this type of integration. If you're outgrowing manually pushing CSV files around, and Zapier is not flexible or intuitive, you can check out a managed, custom integration platform like symphonyapps.io. The price point is a little higher, but it's pretty robust if your volume supports it or you need to automate additional processes.

Full disclosure, I run this particular platform, but there are a variety of similar services and it seems relevant to this discussion.
