Non-register/hand written receipts

I've been trying to upload my receipts, and it seems to go fine with printed register type of receipts. But when I try to upload any that are hand written, they just seem to disappear. The upload line goes for a while then nothing, no error, no instructions, nothing. A small portion of my receipts will be hand written, and of course I need to catalog them along with rest. What's the suggested way to handle this?
