Source Transaction Deletion

Hello,

I want to delete a "source record" for a transaction so that I can change the "category" for the transaction. Are there any repercussions to doing this?

Hey @ovhenderson! The source record of your transactions refers to where the transaction was imported from (be it a connected bank account or a receipt).

If you've detached it by clicking the icon in the bottom right of the detailed transaction view, then this produces a duplicate transaction, untethered from its source. So, if you detach it, then you're still left with the source transaction; in that case, you're totally free to delete the original transaction after editing the duplicate transaction's category. The only repercussion is that deleting data from Wave is permanent.

Since I'm still somewhat speculating here, I always recommend making a note of any transactions you're unsure about deleting, just in case you need to recreate them in the future!
