Beginning balances are negative

So how do i go about entering what my beginning balnce was on Jan1/19 when i was in the overdraft?
what is the exact proceedure because it will not let me save it. i am assuming i have the wrong accounts chosen, i havent imported my bank yet or hooked it up, as i wanted to set these beginning balances first then import the transactions, do i have the wrong account set up? i added an account as "MY Account that isnt connected to any bank, i am guessing that is wrong,
will i have to add bank accounts then put in the balance?
so confused....

Hi @msyniuk!

My recommendation for you is to, before entering your initial balance, connect your bank and see if the information you want will show up in your transactions list automatically. If that doesn't happen, then you can create a transaction with your starting balance following the steps listed here:
