Deleted Transactions

I do not know how or if I did it but most of my 2018 transactions are gone with no way to recover them. The explanation given by Wave is that this is to protect the user's privacy. I'm already on a secure server and I could waive (no pun) the privacy concern as a user. Or, I could export my data to a secure location. No backups with a lame excuse that it is for our protection is really terrible. I don't get it.
