Banking - Connected Accounts Starting Dates

I connected my bank account for my business and it asked if I wanted to set a specific date for the import to start or import everything. Since I just switched to Wave and wanted to start my books effective the beginning of last year, for tax purposes, I wanted my transactions from the bank to start then as well. I set an ending balance/starting balance to help reconcile my accounts. However, when I went in to reconcile, I noticed that it imported everything from the bank, regardless of the fact that I specified a specific date. Now it is throwing off my balance. I can do a JE to reconcile the account but would rather get the transactions to import correctly. How can I get this fixed?
