Setting up headings for a new invoice format using % vs $

I need to edit the headers on the invoice template to bill for sales associates commissions which are paid as a % of sales. I tried changing the standard headers but cannot seem to get the numbers to calculate. Suggestions?

Under settings > invoice customization > you can see that there is in fact no way to change our invoices to a percentage amount. These must be calculated manually outside of Wave. Hope this helps.
