Wave’s integration with Shopify is being discontinued
In the early Spring of 2020, Wave launched an integration with Shopify that allowed the import of transactions and other information from Shopify online stores to Wave. In July, we de-listed the integration from our Integrations page after lower than expected adoption, and feedback that this integration wasn't meeting your needs to take the time to decide what to do next.
After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue the Shopify integration for all existing connections on December 31, 2020.
For those with an active integration, your Shopify connection will continue automatically importing data to Wave until it is retired on December 31. After December 31, the integration will be automatically removed from your Wave account, and Shopify imports will stop.
Why is Wave retiring the Shopify integration?
The adoption rate of the Shopify integration was lower than we had anticipated, and we also heard feedback that a transaction-focused integration didn’t fully meet your needs. Rather than continue to dedicate development resources to maintain and extend this one integration, we are retiring the Shopify integration and reprioritizing our development resources to support Wave’s open API.
Will Wave build a new Shopify integration in the future?
No. For all integrations, Wave is prioritizing our development resources to enable third-party tools and provide an open API. An open API enables third-party developers to create independent integration apps, so you can connect Wave with the tools of your choice, and control how you sync your data.
In the case of Shopify, Wave’s open API creates the opportunity for other app developers to offer Shopify apps that integrate and sync data with Wave. You can find compatible apps by searching for “Wave” in the Shopify App Store. Please note that Wave does not review or certify third-party apps.
What happens to previously imported data from Shopify?
Transactions and other data already imported will not be affected once the integration ends. You can continue to view and edit these transactions in your Wave account.
Additional ways to import data from Shopify
CSV import
Download Shopify customer and transaction records as CSV files, and upload them to Wave using our CSV import feature.
Wave Connect
Upload Shopify transactions, products, and customer lists with Wave Connect, Wave’s free Google Sheets add-on. Export data from your Shopify account to a Google spreadsheet, then use Wave Connect to import it to Wave..
Zapier and other app integrators
If you use Zapier or other integration apps, you may find they offer connections to Wave that streamline syncing your Shopify data with Wave. Please note that Zapier’s Shopify integration is a “premium” integration, which requires a paid Zapier account.
