PIPEDA concerns since you switched to Plaid

In order to import my transactions automatically, I need to have a connected account. I am concerned that my banking credential is not sent to my bank for verification / access but to Plaid, a company in California USA.

That would allow Plaid to not only read my transactions but also have full access to my bank accounts. I am not sure if there is any PIPEDA implication but I do know TD has lawsuit with Plaid regarding similar concern.
