I frequently use the feature to 'duplicate' a transaction and then edit the newly duplicated entry with new value, date etc. and save the entry. This feature has its own advantage. One doesn't have to enter the same type of transaction twice, but duplicate it, edit it & save it as a new entry. But the feature has its own drawback too. It happened twice with me that while duplicating a year-old entry into a new one, I overwrote the original entry. The original entry was lost and my Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet everything went wrong. I download each such report in pdf format every month. To trace the error, I had to go back month by month and physically check the difference with the pdf version till I located the entry that I overwrote. To avoid such error, can we have some feature wherein we can freeze entries from being overwritten?
