how to automate split transactions directly from invoices ?

please tell me there is a solution for this.

when i create an invoice everything is itemised.
sales + orders
tax
shipping.

everything is split which is fine.
when i record the payment it creates a transaction of all this figures combined.
which i then have to split. this is taking me on average 35 clicks to split one transaction up.

with hundreds of invoices this turns into a huge work load for such a tedious repetitive task.

its so frustrating.
please tell me there is a solution.

    Hey @Ceelabb !

    When an invoice is marked as paid with an invoice payment transaction, that single transaction allocates your funds accordingly based on the item lines you added to the invoice. This allocation is handled for you automatically. I know this might seem odd at first since you don't see a transaction for every item line you included on your invoice, but if you head over to your Reports > Accounting Transactions (General Ledger) page and select the income account you assigned to your item lines, you will see that the funds are allocated accordingly. There is no need to split your invoice payment transactions. :smile:

    thanks for this info. it looks like i found all the info but a different way as you explained.

    I've tried this and it doesn't appear to do as you say. when i go to Reports > Accounting Transactions (General Ledger page and select the income account. it shows the invoice when i click on the invoice it brings me back to the invoice where i can see its itemised.

    it doesn't itemise it there. when i do a profit and loss report everything shows up as sales but when i click on sales it shows a break down where i can see its broken down into items which included sales discounts and shipping.

    is all the above correct.

    Hi @Ceelabb!

    When following JulianP's instructions, should see generate a report which details the invoice number, along with the item from the invoice. It should look something like this:

    When following the steps you took, that should take you to the same report, the Account Transactions report for the Income account, so you should be seeing the same information! The only reason why you wouldn't be is if the same income account isn't being selected in the first case. I.e. Sales isn't being selected, which is the default in Wave.

    Either way, it looks like you have the information you need :smile:
