Payment options for foreign clients, including PayPal

I am trying to understand what payment options I can offer my clients by using Wave, since my business is based in Canada and all my clients are foreign.
From what I understand, I can invoice them either in my business currency (CAD) or their currency, and offer the following payment options:
- Credit card
- Bank transfer
However, I'd like to offer PayPal as well, but I am not sure how.
From what I understand, I could invoice a client in my business currency, then use the steps described here under "Statement import" to account for their payments (https://community.waveapps.com/discussion/9536/wave-s-paypal-integration-is-being-discontinued/p1). Is this correct?
However, invoicing them in a foreign currency then trying to process the payment through PayPal would not be a good idea, as seen here: https://community.waveapps.com/discussion/comment/40369#Comment_40369. Is this also correct?
Basically, can I only offer PayPal as a payment option if I invoice my client in my business currency? And does it matter whether their payment comes from a non-Canadian PayPal account or not?
