Bank Connection Issues? Start Here!

In addition to manual entry of transactions, Wave offers the ability to import your transactions in Microsoft Money (.OFX), Quickbooks (.QBO), Quicken (.QFX) or Simply Accounting (.ASO), and Comma Separated Value (.CSV) formats. If you are wondering about these methods, our Help Center is a great place to start. These import options make it easy to export your data from your online banking portal, and upload it to Wave in just a few clicks.

As an alternative to this functionality, Wave also facilitates bank account integration that makes it possible to automatically pull transaction data into Wave. In order to provide this service, Wave partners with a third party integration partner, Yodlee. This partnership enables Wave to access data from more than 10,000 online banking websites and financial institutions across the world.

Due to the complexity, number, and variety of banking systems worldwide, issues occasionally arise for all financial platforms that provide this type of functionality. Very often, this is due to banks updating their own systems. Unfortunately, this is an industry-wide phenomenon. Our banking partner works to resolve these incidents as they arise in priority sequence. Wave regularly reports success rates to our banking partner, however we cannot directly influence resolutions. It is not necessary to initiate a support request for these issues.

You may find that some errors are resolved through browser troubleshooting. Please see our guide to fixing common issues.

For information regarding the security of bank connections, please see this FAQ and our Terms of Service.

If you have success resolving a problem or would like to share knowledge regarding connection to a specific financial institution, please feel free to post below.

Hi @Beanorama thanks. Please check the link again. It was pointing to community.waveapps rather than support.waveapps (however the rest of the URL is the same). :)

We've been experiencing issues with Chase for months now. We sent detailed reports to customer service but just received stock replies that they would forward to their data provider and basically blew off the issue.

Transactions did start syncing again a couple weeks ago, but many had been missed so we had to import manually, which lead us to discover that there are other transactions historically that were not imported, so we had to reconcile the whole year.

Since then, about 90% of our transactions are being imported, while the remaining are not. We've also noticed that for restaurants, the non-tipped amount is imported.

Anyone have alternate platforms they like? Our main reason for going to Wave was that it allowed for the creation for custom categories... at the time we didn't find another platform we liked that offered this ability, but wondering if that has changed now?

Same is happening with my American Express credit card. Connection is fine, appears to run the sync process, but no transactions are being imported.

Hey @Pel & @janjulian I saw you'd posted on some older threads here that were specific to bank connections issues that have already been resolved. Right now, there aren't any widespread issues with Chase or American Express cards, so the troubleshooting Charlotte's suggested here should help to successfully resolve the connection issues you're experiencing.

@JessicaJay @dmiller72 @PThompson Hi all, I saw your comments on the welcome thread and thought it best to continue the conversation in this dedicated space.

Charlotte's post above includes a link that goes over some troubleshooting steps you can take to help resolve things on your end.

However, if that doesn't work, please let us know which banking institutions and bank account types (e.g. business, personal, checking, saving etc) are affected and we can take another look.
