Customer code (Number)

Hello,

Do you have any plan to introduce customer code (number) in Wave?
i.e A unique key to clearly identify the customer within the Wave.

This is because as the business grows the number of customers increases.

Customer coding has it own advantages, few are mentioned below

1/ It is simple, accurate and is easy to memorise.
2/ It can be used in reports and other options for filteration.
3/ The search criterion becomes easier.

If you plan or if it is pipeline then I would like to suggest the below

It should be alpha numeric (may be 6-8 digits) and can be external or system generated
It can be optional for business whether to opt for cutomer coding.

Hi, @UHRP3,

There is an "Account number" that you can add to a customer's profile, but you can't currently use it to search for a customer. It's only there as a reference.

You could set a customer number as part the "Company name" field for a given customer. The field as a generous enough character limit to allow this, and it would allow you to search through your customer list using that same number.

Can you give me a real-world example of a situation where a customer number would've been useful to you (versus simply having your customer's name)?

Thanks for the workaround which I already tested some months back and also in my sandbox.

Real time example is as quoted by you "two or more customers with same name"

Given that about half of the people born in my hometown around the time I was were given a name that starts with "Alex", I'm very familiar with that issue Thanks again!
