Recurring invoices don't appear on your customer's statement because they aren't invoices yet. When you create a recurring invoice in Wave, you're telling Wave to create new invoices with the information you've entered at regular intervals. For example, if I have a recurring invoice that's sent ever 1st of the month, the amount for next month's invoice won't be owed to me before the 1st, when that invoice is created and sent to my client.
Once a recurring invoice creates a new invoice, the balance on your customer's statement will change, and you'll be able to see that newly created invoice on the Invoices page.
