How far back do my transactions import?
When you establish a bank connection to import transactions into Wave, you can select the date from which you’d like transactions to import, but there are limits to how far back Wave can import you...

Can i get template any of them. but not .csv
Hey @Sandeepa_1994, I've attached a zipped .OFX file which may help you determine the best way to code this data!
Is there a reason why only some transactions import and others don’t? I am having a hard time as it is the same account (VISA) and I would like all transactions to import to make sure everything is complete.
Hi @Bmitchell . Can you provide some additional context here? Is this something that's happening on an ongoing basis, or did you try to connect for the first time and only certain transactions are pulling through? As stated in the article, most banks will allow a maximum of 90 days worth of transactions to be imported into Wave, so if you're looking for transactions previous to these dates then you will have to upload them manually.
The only thing that is out of the ordinary is that I had to get a new credit card but all of the transacations still remain on the same online credit card account that is still connected.
The other time it happened there was no change in credit cards.
@Bmitchell would you be able to let us know the bank who issued the credit card? That way we can check if there are any known issues with that particular connection. Thanks!

I have put in an April 1, 2019 start date for bank account transactions but it doesn't show any. Why would that be?
Hi @Bmitchell . No known issues with RBC at the moment. Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting your bank altogether since you changed over your credit card? If you have and this still isn't working, try the troubleshooting steps provided in the article here.
Hi @philm326 . Have you seen any transactions pull into your account at all? If not, what's the financial institution that you're banking with?
Thanks for response. My last bank statement runs from Feb. 15 through to April 6.The next one isn't showing on my ANZ Bank internet banking. I just tried to get results from April 1 for my new financial year. And the system thought about it for a long time without doing anything. I'm hoping that when the next statement is posted by ANZ that I might be able to get the 6 days of entries from the previous statement plus all the new ones for the rest of April and any May ones. I suspect that Wave couldn't pick up the early April entries because it was a Feb statement. Might this be the case?
@philm326 apologies if this is obtuse, although I just want to be sure: are you talking about a bank connection? Or are you talking about statements you're uploading?
I'm just curious because the former should be pulling in your transaction data irrespective of when your statements are prepared, while the latter would be impacted by the availability of your bank statements.
Thanks!
I am talking about a Bank connection.
I know the system can download the bank statements because I made the mistake of not blocking private accounts, credit cards etc when I first clicked on 'download. I got everything!! So had to delete all of it. For wave my intention is to run the Partnership account and a Company one.
It does seem odd that it couldn't pick up an April 1st date. BUT I now wonder if I put the date in as 1/04/2019 which we do in NZ when it should be 4/01/2019 in Wave!!
Hey @philm326 , I think you've cracked it here, Wave does work off of North American date formatting (even for users outside of that). I know this can be a bit confusing, I definitely recommend switching the dates around and giving it a go. If you are considering uploading statements into Wave, the date formatting on your CSV file will need to be MM/DD/YYYY, for the file to import.
Thanks Zoe. I'll be trying that very soon!
Incredibly very helpful
what to do if statements are only available as a pdf?
Ignore last questions - I got it sorry - new user
I am doing my NZ gst return for the months of June and July, but cant see why my account balance isn't in their given that I have done April and May. How do I put in the start bank account balance into Wave for June? Tanks for any help.
I'm trying to upadte my TD Bank since yesterday and it doesn't work! I tried to force but it remains last update 24 hours ago
@carlacheseaux re you able to let me know what error code you are currently seeing? This will allow me to further assess what the cause may be. I'd also recommend checking out this article as it outlines what to do when you face issues with your bank connection. https://support.waveapps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003087843-How-do-I-troubleshoot-my-bank-connection-
How to limit importation of no more than 30 days transactions
Hey there @KJC
When you initially connect your bank account you should be able to select the transaction edit date upon connection. Otherwise it will import transactions from much father back. You should be able to delete these transactions manually using the select all button and our bulk delete feature.
Never saw that edit date available. How can I choose the transaction date since I am already connected?
Also, I have manually selected the transaction and bulk delete feature. However, each time new transactions are downloaded the system continues to reimport the transactions from 2019 which I have deleted manually several times.
@KJC The transaction date will only be available when you initially connect the account; we aren't able to pull back earlier transactions after the initial connection. If you would want to pull these transactions again, you would need to delete the connection and then re-add, login, edit the transaction date and connect to reinitiate the pull of previous transactions. However, I wouldn't advise on this since you would need to delete all the transactions you have already uploaded to prevent duplication.
If you are having issues with transactions uploading more than once, it will be easier for us to look into this by sending in a support ticket so that a dedicated Support specialist can get a closer look at your accounts and guide you from there!
I appreciate your response and the next step to take.
I recently connected all of my accounts and the Transactions are only showing a few from Sept/Oct 2020. I went into each account and confirmed there are many more from the end of the year and beginning of 2021. What is happening and why aren't they showing up? (the weird part is all the numbers are accurate in the main Dashboard...)
Hey @LiveNordic !
Sometimes when a bank connection experiences issues with their integration, it cause some importing issues for some transactions. I see that one of your connections is with US Bank. This bank experienced issues with their integration recently that could have addicted your account directly. If there is a period where some transactions are missing, you can upload them manually via one of the two methods listed below:
Upload bank and credit card statements
Wave Connect: Easily import and export data with Wave's Google Sheets add-on
I also suggest reconciling your accounts afterwards to ensure your books are aligned.
I hope this helps!
How do you "choose how far back you want your transactions to impor"??
Hi @AKT, there's two options to access that option:
