Payment Terms

I'm wondering how to go about a scenario. I sent my tenant an invoice through Wave for his rent figuring it would help keep records for his tenancy and manage receipts for rent payments. Unfortunately he has now gone in and set up auto-pay for his rent after I kindly asked him to pay by check or money order only. You would think I could just discuss this with him but he's a real tool and with my terrible experiences in the past with tenants I'm grateful he's paying period. Problem is that Wave not only takes more time to process the payment but I lose $39.15 off the top of the rent each month. I'm curious what others think of this situation and whether or not there would be a legal way to add terms to the invoice stating that payment by card is fine but there is a $40 fee? Or something to that nature! Thanks in advance for any and all replies...
