How to detect a fraudulent credit card

Hi.

I do most of my business online where I accept cc payments from Wave. I do some high dollar sales sometimes. I've got a new client who wants to pay me with a CC. Something doesn't feel right with this. What can I do to safeguard myself in case it is a stolen credit card? Face to face is not an option.

Hi @jon@terzink.com I'd recommend getting the customer to sign an agreement of some kind as well as a credit card authorization form that includes the customer's full name and photo ID. This article reviews best practices you can take to try to minimize your risk: https://support.waveapps.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001042906

That said, it's important to trust your gut, and if something doesn't feel right here, or the potential customer isn't responding to your legitimate questions in good faith, it might be a sign you need to pass on this sale. Best of of luck, and let us know if we can help further!
