imported transactions wrong currency-different to business currency

I have created a new business (currency set as NZD) and imported transactions from connected bank. the bank account is in NZD but has imported the transactions as USD. i have tried creating another business and re importing everything but the same thing happens.
wouldn't be a problem but whenever I try scanning a receipt it converts the currency and things don't balance.
any thoughts?
