How to update business profile without a CRA Payroll Account Number

Hey all,

This year is a bit of an odd year but I have moved from being employed (over half the year) and am now contracting out. After reading piles of government material (Canada - BC/AB to be exact), they said that until you pass the $30,000 threshold of earned income outside of your employment, you do not need a registered number/business as a sole proprietor. As I fit under that category currently, I do not have a CRA Payroll Account Number and therefore I am unable to update my business profile. Can anyone please advise what to do in this situation.
