Pull transaction reports tagged to specific vendors and/or customers

With Wave adding the ability to tag transactions to a specific vendor and customers (multiples, if you split the transaction) which is awesome , are there any plans to add expanded reporting functionality to leverage this? I'm looking to avoid building a report in Power BI at all costs, if I can.

Or maybe the better question is: is there a way to export datasets (invoices, estimates, expenses, etc.) to leverage a BI platform without having to build something from scratch?

    Hey there @tsfjax

Thanks for your contribution to our community. Would you mind expanding a little further on what your use case scenario is here? As a tech specialist we have a limited knowledge of other BI software and may need a bit more of a broken down or simplified response so that we can best help you!

Thanks, @BarsinA. What I am trying to do is to find a way to correlate income v. expenses by customer. I'm trying to find a way to drill down for how to correlate income from a customer v. their cost to serve. Here's a redacted screen snip of an example expense transaction.

In QB, you have the ability to do project profitability reporting. I am trying to back-door my way into something similar with Wave, even if only at a high level (e.g. in 2020 customer X had $100 in income but they were attached to $50 in expenses, so their cost to serve would then be 50%). I'm sure there are accountants out there cringing at my example right now, but that's the smartest way I could come up with to explain it. :)

If I can find a format that works, I can have someone design a dashboard in Power BI to play with the data so I can manipulate it and draw my own conclusions, but I'm struggling on how to get to the point where I can get the data ready for that next phase.

@tsfjax Thanks for further explaining the context for the report that you were hoping to run in Wave. While the nature of what you are trying to achieve is something that is likely useful to other businesses as well, at the moment, Wave doesn't offer custom reporting or reporting as complex as what you are looking for. In saying that, if you are trying to export data to use with an external BI tool, then you might find Wave Connect helpful, as you can export data with it and then use it how you see fit. This article should help explain this further for you: https://support.waveapps.com/hc/en-us/articles/360020768272-Wave-Connect-Easily-import-and-export-data-with-Wave-s-Google-Sheets-add-on-

Outside of this, you can always export your data through navigating to Settings > Data Export, though most Wavers find the data that comes from Wave Connect to be easier to manipulate
