Split payments between 2 payment accounts

Can someone please tell me how to split a payment between 2 payment accounts? e.g. purchasing an item using 2 different accounts. I see no way to do this other than by a JE or entering a piece in one account, and the other piece in the 2nd account. Is it possible to do this in one transaction?

    Hi @fischerdf , thanks for your post here! In general, if there is an expense transaction, it can only be coming from one account at a time, even if the overall purchase was paid from two accounts. For example, let's say you bought something for $40 total. You paid for $20 of it with your debit card, and $20 with your credit card. While the overall price of the item is $40, each part of the payment is its own unique transaction because the funds can only come from one place at a time. If you pay something this way, for example, you'd get two receipts rather than one. So this is why you're not able to split expense transactions in that way. If you want them to be recorded as a single transaction though, then you've got it right - a journal entry is the way to go!
