$4 per employee or contractor - how often? Per month? Per deposit? Please clarify this.

  • murrayzz1murrayzz1 Member Posts: 6

    I'm in the UK

  • ZoeCZoeC Member Posts: 388 admin

Hey @FilCanAsia, that is $4 per active employee within the month and $4 per contractor you have paid within the month. The base monthly fee on top of that is $20 for Canada or non tax service states in the US, and $35 for tax service states in the US.

What if I on;y pay contractors 1 or 2 months out of the year, do i still need to purchase the entire year or only the months I need to run payroll?

  • ZoeCZoeC Member Posts: 388 admin

Hey @i_am_acme! Wave's subscription is charged monthly and you are charged for every month your account is active. You can deactivate for the times you don't need to run Payroll and reactivate whenever you need to!

Self service in Michigan. Is the $20 fee per payroll run or $20 per month no matter how times you run payroll during the month..

  • JamieDJamieD Administrator Posts: 1,156 admin

Hey @elizgleckler. The total amount is $20.00 per month as a base subscription (it's not based on how many times you run your payroll). This amount also includes $4.00 per active employee per month as well.

Do you charge extra fee if I have Workmen Compensation Insurance integrated with the payroll? If so how much?

  • EmmaPEmmaP Member Posts: 639 ✭✭✭

Hey @Andy_Metro! That is a good question! Wave partners with AP Intego to connect you to workers’ compensation insurance for your business. Because of this, Wave will not charge you directly, this would be determined by AP Intego. You can head to their site to get a quote for your business. Go to Payroll > Run Payroll in the left navigation menu, and click Get Insured on the Workers’ compensation tile - you’ll be taken to the AP Intego site.

I like Wave solutions but the only thing that stops me for starting using it is that the Payroll is not available for Quebec resident. I do not need payroll option now, but I might need it eventually in a year or 2. Is this a functionnality you are planning to add in the near future, so I can use it in 1-2 year when it's ready? Now that wave was acquired by H&R Block, can we expect such feature? One last question, what is so special with Quebec province so it is not included with wave solution? Thanks!

  • EliMojeEliMoje Member Posts: 1

Please confirm no additional cost per month. So If we pay $4 per employee for the month and we pay semi-monthly., we are not charged $8 per employee per month for example.

  • JordanDJordanD Member Posts: 515 ✭✭✭

Hey @MyriamPilon and welcome to Wave's Community Forum! We are excited to have you! Wave Payroll is currently not available in Quebec because the tax calculations that are used on payroll in Quebec (specifically the way that Provincial Taxes are calculated) do not reflect the way that the other provinces and territories do, which is why offering the feature to Quebec at the moment presents challenges. There are no short-term plans to offer this to Quebec yet but as we reassess our 2020 Product Roadmap, I'm sure discussions about this will be raised, and if we do begin to offer this feature, you can rest assured knowing that we will reach out to let you know.

@EliMoje On Wave Payroll, you can pay employees as many times as you like within a month and the $4 fee will only be applied for the employee once. On the flip side, if the employee is active and no payrolls are run, you will still be charged the $4 for the employee. To avoid billing, it is recommended that you offboard employees if you are not looking to pay them within a month, and you will not be billed for them provided this is done prior to the 1st of the month.

Hello! Is there any plan to add Massachusetts to the auto filing service?
  • ConnorMConnorM Member Posts: 1,229 ✭✭✭

Hey @Colleen1222! As Jordan mentioned above, we're looking into assessing our 2020 Product Roadmap. So far, I haven't heard word of Massachusetts being added into our Tax Service States, but we will definitely keep everyone posted if that changes!

Hello - I am trying to set up Payroll so I can pay myself as an employee. I set my salary to be $48,000/year, $4,000/month. Under my "run Payroll" dashboard it is showing that my "Total Payroll Cost" is $4,330. What is that?!

Hi there, are there any plans to include DC in the state list in the near future? Need a payroll system and already use Wave, but am really looking for something that does the tax filing and payments for me. I don't see it offered in DC currently.

  • AlexLAlexL Member Posts: 2,869 ✭✭✭

Hey @Evolution_Mktg_2016 , please reach out directly to the Support team through live chat so we can get this resolved for you.

@beworthfinance at the moment, we don't have any plans to expand to DC, but we do make quick changes around here so I'd keep an eye open to see if this is added in the future.

    Hey @beworthfinance

Our team has expanded tax service states in 9 new states in the last 6 months. We're always hoping to expand so it's certainly possible for Wave. Check in on This Article to see when we offer a new state.

If I run payroll for multiple companies/clients, is the price $35 per company/client?
  • pmhanson1pmhanson1 Member Posts: 2

Have tried to set this service up for weeks. Customer support has been horrible with over ten messages not replied to and no way to rectify our setup. Wasn't able to make our first payroll on January 31st.

  • AlexLAlexL Member Posts: 2,869 ✭✭✭

Hi @HPSBS , if you are running Payroll for different businesses, you will be charged $35 per business.

Hey @pmhanson1 , looks like Support was able to get in touch with you directly. If you do have any further questions, please reach out directly through the ticket to the team.

    Hi Wave,

Help me understand how much I am paying per month.

There is a base fee of $20 per month. I have 10 people on my monthly payroll staff. Do I pay $20 per month + $6 per person per month?

    Thanks,

  • ConnorMConnorM Member Posts: 1,229 ✭✭✭

Hey @TJ131, that's exactly correct, yep! This would be if you're outside of a Tax Service state in the US, or if you are located in Canada. Otherwise, if you're outside of NA, Wave Payroll would not be available to you.

I'm running into the same issue. Not only setting up employees and payroll but funding and other tabs. In this day and age you would assume to be able to fund an account from any credit card, bank account, venmo, PayPal.. whatever! As long as there's money to be collected! If it costs money to accept from different places then apply the cost to us! It's easy but try getting someone to assist you with that!
Unfortunately, I accepted some cc payments with wave and I'm now caught in their trap
  • AlexLAlexL Member Posts: 2,869 ✭✭✭

Hey @Alec_Hunter , currently we allow you to set up your funding account to one of your bank accounts as we don't integrate directly with PayPal or Venmo. If you do ever need to get in contact with an agent directly, feel free to reach out through our live chat between the hours of 9-6PM Eastern, Monday-Friday.

  • Alec_HunterAlec_Hunter Member Posts: 4
I don't know if that is completely correct. I'm currently working with agents and have been trying to get just a bank account finished being set up. In the mean time, I wanted to accept 3 payments I couldn't because I'm afraid of my money being unaccessible as it is now. I wanted to purchase book keeping from wave and I can't because i cant use my connected account to pay for it. As well as the same for workers comp insurance... I've been using wave for 2 days and the platform is absolutely AWESOME, it just doesn't work.

You mention remittances to the CRA but what about remittances to Revenu Quebec for those based in QC? Also do you do T4As for freelancers, and Relevé 1 ?

  • EmmaPEmmaP Member Posts: 639 ✭✭✭

Hi @marianne_mtl! Thanks for reaching out. Currently, Quebec is not supported in Wave Payroll so this is why you do not see any information for it.

Can payroll be setup to be quarterly ? Does the price change if the employee gets paid quarterly instead? How does that affect tax payments? Thank you.
