Hey all, thanks for reaching out here. Unfortunately, at present, it is not possible to edit the invoice template or customize it to add new fields. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this causes you, and I will pass your continued feedback along to my teams for future consideration to the platform.
Hi @DavidJBennett! Thanks for reaching out. At present I don't believe there is a way to change the file name before exporting. Is there a particular reason this functionality would be useful to you? I'm happy to pass feedback along.
Is there a way I can leave the price of my product as is on Wave and simply add a promo sale price (not on the invoice only) to the product in order to put it on my website? My product is 24.99; but, I want customers to see that they are receiving a 5.00 discount when they pay online for the product.
I sent my first estimate and noticed it expires on the same day. Is there a way to change when the expiration date? I've looked and do not see how to change the expiration date for estimates. Please help
Hi @DanielHanson! Thanks for reaching out. When creating the Estimate you can edit the expiration date there. If you want to edit the expiry date of an Estimate you have already created, you can do so by going to the Estimates tab and then clicking the drop down arrow to the right of an Estimate and selecting 'Edit'. From there you can edit the expiry date and then save.
White space in the memo is not honored, but is when exported to pdf. I use whitespace to create two columns of data for bank account detail columns by inserting multiple spaces. Its quite tricky to set up cause you need to change the number of spaces, save, export invoice, and see what you get. Please dont fix this by making the pdf memo not support whitespace, the html version of the memo should replace multiple spaces with You guys advertise you want to bring in machine learning and all sorts of fancy stuff, meanwhile you users are still waiting for the ability to insert a space in their memos. Probably going to get the very friendly response that its not currently supported, is a good idea, but then nothing will happen for years.
Hey @run_the_Race! Thanks for reaching out here. I completely hear where you're coming from. I'd love to be able to offer you anything more than the very friendly response that you'd mentioned, but at this time, I really unfortunately can't. What I can and will do is put this on my development team's radar. The truth of the matter is that type of thing is something that ends up getting reprioritized in light of changes like bug fixes, or general improvements to the platform that will have a higher impact on all users of the platform. It's never our intention to promise a change and have it not come, however things inevitably get pushed back when considering other developments that must be done. With all of this said, I'm going to do what I can, and I do thank you very kindly for your input here. Wishing you the best.
How about at least eliminating a lot of wasted "fluff" space on the Invoice Templates... make a minimalist one at least. Heavy notes (because we can't customize) pushes the invoice to Two Pages.
Hi @Guy919! Thanks for reaching out. I like the idea of offering a 'minimalist' invoice. What currently makes your 'notes' section so big? What other fields would work if we are unable to offer a minimalist invoice? Any other context around how you are using invoices or what would be more helpful is great for our team to have!
We have a large account... they dictate what needs to be on the invoice to them... most of it is specific from their purchase order...

@Guy919 Thank you so much for providing extra details here! We appreciate your feedback and for letting us know why added fields for your invoices would benefit your business. At this time, changing our invoice customization features is always something our developers are looking at, so we appreciate your detailed feature request here!
Hi, I am just starting up with Wave and setting up what to include on my invoices. Is there a way to preview or print an invoice without generating it? Thanks
There's a lot of customization for the invoices, but I don't see a way to save a default invoice email message. A lot of my invoices are the same type, and I usually want to add nearly the same message to every emailed invoice. But I don't see anywhere to save it within the app, so do I have to save it on my own somewhere so I can copy & paste it in each time?
@ossomach For sure. When you are creating an invoice, you should see the 'More Actions' drop down on the invoice itself. From here, you should be able to select 'preview as customer' to see what the customer sees. You can do all of this before you actually send the invoice out to one of your clients. I should mention that you can also print an invoice before it gets sent out (you will see this in the More Actions drop down as well).
@tipliza I'm afraid that there isn't a way to permanently customize the email message thats included in the sending of an invoice to a client. Perhaps this is something that we will implement in the future, but we don't have any immediate plans in making this part of the invoice customization section.
@JamieD, bummer. What do folks normally do? Do they memorize a standard message? Improvise each time? Not add any message at all? (I’m not particularly neurotypical, so I don’t know if improvising each time is normal and just unusually challenging for me, or if this is something we’re all struggling with. Or do folks just skip the niceties and leave it blank?)
Actually a lot of users keep a standard note document with the text copied which they can then paste into their email message anytime they're sending several invoices. Hope this helps
Is it possible to set the estimate that it will not repeat the header?
Because for printing out, it is not so paper or eco friendly to repeating the header. With the pager number, I personally think that it is enough.
Hi @simongcc , can you give me an example of what you mean by repeating the header? If you could send a screenshot that would work great!
Hey @tipliza , that's one thing that I don't have the answer to I'm afraid. My suggestion would be an app that integrates on both of your devices (iOS Notes or Evernote for example) as it might make it easier for you.

Hi Alex,
Nice to hear from you!
I mean from this quotation title to the top most logo parts with address and so on. Because there is page number already at the end of page. So I think it does not need to repeat the footer and logo to save some ink and paper in most of the cases.
BTW, if using API, is it possible to create new estimate through it?
Hey @simongcc! Thanks for that context! Unfortunately, that is not currently possible within Wave, but we definitely appreciate that feedback and input. Creating an estimate through API should be something that would be achievable, but I'd recommend asking in the API/Integrations section of the Community forum for some help with that!
For anyone looking for a way to auto enter text.. I use an app called AutoHotKey. You can set up shortcuts, text phrases, text extenders and more with it. Basically is use this code: "etsy h" (no space) and the program types a preset phrase into my email or anywhere I need it. I use to to run programs and enter long email address.
If you need more info, just let me know or search google for the app.
Hi, is there a way to hide the payment due date on the sent invoice?
I like to send my invoices with a note saying the "payment is due on completion of work" which implies todays date rather than actually having todays date on it... Receiving an invoice with the due date as today feels a little overbearing imho. I understand that the wave database needs a date and "todays" date is indeed correct but if there was a way to hide "payment due" on the sent invoice that would be great.
Unfortunately if you head to Settings > Invoice customization, you'll notice that there isn't way to hide the payment due date on the invoices at this time!

Gotcha. So it’s expected that I have another doc somewhere outside the app. How do folks keep copies handy on both their computers and mobile phones?
Thanks for clarifying!

Thanks for this! I love these types of programs! I use one called aText, it has helped me dramatically.

Where can I customize the canned message including email signature for payment receipts?
hey @Devin , thanks for your message! When you record a payment on your invoices manually, you can choose to edit the receipt message before sending:
And you should be good to go!
